After a poor game against the Minnesota Twins, Gerrit Cole bounced back with an outstanding game against the Tampa Bay Rays. The New York Yankees’ ace was sensational from the mound against the Rays. He helped the Pinstripes win the first game of the three-game series against the Rays.

It has been over two months since the 2022 MLB season started. What has remained constant is the domination of the Yankees. If not for a couple of series, the Yankees have been unbeatable in the current season.

Given the Yankees did not make any notable signings in the 2022 free agency, even the Yankees fans did not expect them to dominate the current season. But things are different, as the Aaron Boone-led team has played exceptionally well baseball.

Gerrit Cole is up for the challenge in 2022

Earlier this month, the Yankees ace, Gerrit Cole, had one of his career-worst performances against the Minnesota Twins. Though the Yankees won the game, Cole conceded five home runs in a single game. But a player as big as Cole knows how to make a comeback in the next game.

While playing as a starting pitcher, Cole pitched through six innings, and did not concede a single run against the Rays. He also collected seven strikeouts in the game, including a 100 mph screamer. The Yankees won the game by 2-0.

During his post-game conference, Cole said the Yankees are ready for any challenge for the rest of the season.

“It’s going to be a lot of tough baseball. But we’re up for the challenge. Whatever it takes,” Cole said to MLB.com. “I received the ball and I’m thinking double play all the way.”

What’s next for the Yankees?

With 45 wins out of 61 games, the New York Yankees have emerged as the best team this season. Whether it is offense or the defense, the Yankees have dominated every opposition in 2022.
