Baseball was so close to having Patrick Mahomes. The 3x Super Bowl MVP’s history with the sport made it quite difficult for teams and his father to accept that Mahomes aspired to be a football player. However, the Kansas City Chiefs’ face has since then proved that this was the right decision. But while baseball is in the rearview mirror for him, the superstar still takes a look at it from time to time. Case in point, his reaction to the Kansas City Royals’ win and Bobby Witt Jr’s home run against the Detroit Tigers.

There’s actually a lot of history between Mahomes and the Tigers. Despite the star choosing football during his college days, the Tigers drafted him in hopes of changing his mind. While that did make things difficult for him (after all, rejecting a life-changing offer from an MLB team isn’t easy), the star at least got a measure of satisfaction last night. 

Mahomes couldn’t resist posting a reaction on X after Bobby Witt Jr’s humongous 468-foot rocket against the Tigers. That three-run homer increased the Royals’ lead to 5 runs and the team ultimately ended up winning the game 10-3. For Mahomes this was a moment of double happiness – the team of his city won and the team that could’ve made his football dreams difficult lost. Naturally, Mahomes had to go on X to post a reaction.

The Chiefs’ star posted three explosives to praise the fireworks unleashed by Bobby Witt Jr on the Tigers. While for Mahomes this was a great moment, for the Royals fans too this is proving to be a sign of them believing again, especially with their $288 million slugger exploding with form. So with a 31-19 record, their team is a huge frontrunner for the playoffs. And if we know anything about baseball – once you reach the postseason, anything can happen. 

As a result, fans couldn’t help but praise Mahomes and Witt Jr. The NFL star in particular got huge praise for bringing in the winning culture to Kansas City.

The fans couldn’t hold their excitement after seeing Mahomes’ post. As a result, they immediately began paying tribute to the two players and their contribution to taking Kansas City to the brink of being a sporting powerhouse. “You and Bobby saved this city,” one comment read. Certainly, Mahomes’ Super Bowl success and Witt Jr’s explosive hits have made the Kansas fans believers again.

“You made this happen king,” another fan commented. Maybe the fans think that Mahomes’ NFL success has made everyone a winner in the city. “Patrick Mahomes and Bobby Witt Jr. play for my team, how blessed is that?” a fan wondered. The answer to that is simple – extremely blessed.  “Goat recognizes Goat,” an X user said. While the Goat debate will rage on, at least for the Kansas fans – they have no doubt.

Finally, a fan said something that could prove to be a little controversial. “Mahomes > Brady,” is it true? Well, there’s still a lot of time to go before one can pronounce Mahomes as the GOAT. However, one can’t deny he has all the tools to make a run for it.
