The crowds in the stands went wild when Anthony Rizzo used a Taylor Swift song as his walk-up music. It brought him temporary good luck in 2023 but ultimately, the New York Yankees ended up in crisis. The team has struggled all year long to get out of a funk but all they have done is dig a deep grave for themselves. It seems like the NFL may be having better luck than MLB this season.

Swifties came out of the woodwork to attend the pop star’s Eras Tour in 2023, filling stadiums with thousands. Among those listening to her three-hour-plus show in Kansas City in July was a particular NFL star on Patrick Mahomes‘ team, cheerily fueling the rumor mill. 2023 has brought many a revelation about the Yankees’ lackluster season. With the front office constantly under fire, fans are sick of watching history repeat itself. For the 14th straight season, there is no World Series title in the Bronx. Interestingly, when Taylor Swift was touring the country in the middle of the season, her influence reached as far as MLB.

Anthony Rizzo, a well-known Swiftie, struggled with a slump before a concussion took him out of the season. Whatever highlights came before then were strangely tied to his music preferences, though of course, they didn’t last long. Across a different league though, dating rumors have been heating up. Travis Kelce shared his disappointment at not getting to meet the singer when she performed at Arrowhead Stadium in July, with pop culture fanatics going wild over the rumors. On Sunday, Taylor Swift, a confirmed Eagles fan, showed up at the Chiefs vs. Bears game. Guess who she was rooting for.
