The UFC’s lightweight division has always been one of the most talent-stacked ones in the company. Being a champion in any division in the UFC is tough, but it is even more so when the top 10 comprises fighters such as Dustin Poirier, Justin Gaethje, Tony Ferguson, and Dan Hooker among others.

At UFC 262, Charles Oliveira and Michael Chandler ushered in a new era for the 155-pound fighters. Oliveira went into the fight as an 11-year UFC veteran. In his lengthy spell, he set the record for the most finishes (17) and most submission wins (14) in the UFC

Meanwhile, Chandler, who had a decorated spell at Bellator MMA, received the title shot in his second fight. Hence, the journey to the title has been extremely different for both men.

The fight started off well for Oliveira, who escaped from a guillotine choke and took Chandler’s back. However, ‘Iron’ did a good job of fighting off the submission attempts and regaining a vertical base. He comfortably won round one.

Round two, however, was all Oliveira. He landed a crisp left hook that rocked Chandler. Once Chandler hit the ground, ‘Do Bronx’ followed that up with some shots on the ground, and that was the end of the fight.
