The maiden triple hundred in any T20 cricket tournament across the world was registered by a Delhi boy, Mohit Ahlawat in a local Delhi League on Tuesday. He smashed unbeaten 302 runs off 72 deliveries including 14 fours and 39 sixes.
The match was upheld under Friends Premier League, a Delhi local tournament registered under DDCA, between Maavi XI and Friends XI. Ahlawat’s (21) innings involved 14 fours and a staggering 39 sixes. His effort helped Maavi XI post a massive 416/2, a record total in any Twenty20 game. His extraordinary innings came in a 40-yard field.
This is what the scorecard looked like:
Ahlawat made a mockery of sixes, hitting 39 sixes in his innings. He outscored the record of maximum sixes in a team’s innings (21) and even in the entire match (34).
The highest T20 team score before this was 263/5 by Royal Challengers Bangalore against Sahara Pune Warriors in the 2013 IPL. The highest individual score by a batsman was 175 by Chris Gayle in the same match. Ahlawat has scored more than an entire team.
He was quoted in his interview saying, “I had scored an unbeaten 224 in a 40-over match in a Delhi and Districts Cricket Association (DDCA) league last year and a 158 in a T20 game. I’ve played a few big knocks before. So I knew I could do it again.”
Ahlawat stays at the Bharat Nagar Academy near Feroz Shah Kotla with coach Sanjay Bharadwaj. He is hoping this knock would get him some recognition as he aspires to make it big in the circuit in the near future.
“I was in the Delhi team camp for the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy but was not selected. With this knock, I hope to make it to the Vijay Hazare squad”, he said in his interview.
