Jose Mourinho has reportedly snubbed a massive pay rise – to stay at Stamford Bridge till 2019. This will come as a massive boost for all the players and their fans and they need not worry about losing their ‘Special One’. He has extended his contract for two more years at the same £8.5 million per year.
This shows that Mourinho is here for the perfect reasons and a huge increase in pay won’t divert his mind from his main target. He has repeated what he had done few years ago with Chelsea, and that is to win the Premiership once again. Mourinho’s tactics are considered one of the finest and he himself is regarded as one of the best football managers in the world. He had put up an all-rounder squad last season which scored an impeccable 72 goals and conceded a meagre 32. Mourinho’s transfer decisions are the reasons for such a strengthened squad which went on a winning run.
It is clear that Mourinho is looking forward to achieving success with Chelsea yet again and is surely not influenced by money. Last season, Mourinho stated, “I don’t need a contract, I don’t need a pay rise. I’ll stay as long as Mr Abramovich wants me!”
