Designing his apparel collection with Columbia and having the 90s fashion icon Michael Jordan as his team owner doesn’t seem to be helping the clothing choices of Bubba Wallace much. The 23XI Racing driver was one of the stars that clouded the night in Nashville during NASCAR’s Champion’s Week banquet. With all the best performers of the year and anybody who is something in the racing series walking the red carpet, Wallace did too. But there was one tiny oddity that fans couldn’t keep their eyes off.

And when he posted a picture of himself along with veteran reporter Jordan Bianchi, they couldn’t help not pointing it out and cracking a joke either.

In 2023, Bubba Wallace reached heights he never had before. Driving the #23 Toyota for Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin‘s team, he made it into the playoffs for the first time in his career and stayed affixed until the Round of 8. Though it ended up being a winless year for him, he was able to grab 5 top-5 finishes—the latest of them coming at the Texas Motor Speedway. Apart from his performances, Wallace was also talked about much for the liveries that his car sported throughout the year. Clothed in the colors of Michael Jordan’s brands and partners, the #23 Toyota was one of the most well-dressed in the grid.

Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case for the driver himself in Nashville. Posting a picture of himself and Jordan Bianchi clad in suits fit for the occasion, Wallace had a burning question cleared up.

Responding to Wallace’s query of “Who’s more auspicious?” fans had a very easy challenge to answer. One of the things upsetting them was that the driver wore shoes without his socks.

Picking Jordan Bianchi as his answer to Bubba Wallace’s question one fan wrote, “Gotta go with Jordan. He’d be the one I’d expect to have no socks or ankle socks.” The out-of-character display from Wallace sure did leave some confused. One considerate follower made sure to compliment the driver on his looks before giving out a thought that he might want to remember in the future. They wrote, Both of you guys look very nice however, Bubba I wish you had on some socks with your suit”.

Despite all the trolls that came his way, one has to acknowledge that Wallace and his wife Amanda Carter were amongst the best-looking couples on the night. With his burgundy tuxedo and black bow tie, Wallace matched the elegance of his wife’s outfit perfectly. However, his shoes took a lot of fire. Let’s hope Wallace chooses a nice pair of socks to go with his outfit the next time he walks the carpet. Judging from the immense improvement in racing performance showing, it shouldn’t be that long before he walks it again.
