Loved for his charm and humble persona, Chase Elliott isn’t someone who is known to be vengeful. However, this doesn’t mean that NASCAR’s Most Popular Driver easily forgets if anyone does him wrong.

During his appearance on Pardon My Take last year, Chase Elliott revealed the name of the driver with whom he might have beef in future. When the show’s host, Dan “Big Cat” Katz asked the Hendrick Motorsports driver if he had a beef with any driver, Elliott replied, “No, I really don’t have any beef with anybody right now. But that’s always subject to change.”

However, the host didn’t seem happy with Elliott’s reply. And hence decided to reframe the question into a hypothetical scenario. He asked, “Who would you have beef with if you had beef?”

And to this, the #9 immediately replied, “I mean Ross [Chastain] and I got into it there, you know, at the last race.”

Excited to get a name from Elliott, Katz joked, “He’s dead. He’s dead to me. I got it.” Furthermore, he ensured that if Elliott wanted, he would “take care” of Chastain and ensure that the #1 never wins a race again.

Glad to have the “Big Cat” on his side, Elliott replied, “Alright, you got it under control? I trust you.”

Well, who could blame Elliott for letting “Big Cat” handle Chastain? After all, during last season’s Cup Series race at the World Wide Technology (WWT) Raceway, Chastain did give Elliott a good reason to be upset.

What did Ross Chastain do?

At turn 4 during the end of Lap 101’s restart, Ross Chastain‘s right front made contact with Elliott’s left rear while the two were in a three-wide pass situation with Austin Dillon. As a result of this collision, Elliott’s Chevrolet spun sideways across the track, collecting Bubba Wallace and Harrison Butron as well.

Upset at Chastain for bumping into him, Elliott sent Chastain’s #1 across the track by hitting its left rear on the next restart. Moreover, the two of them collided again later in the race when Chastain made contact with Elliott, sending him into Turn 1.

Ross Chastain and Chase Elliott collide again at Phoenix

The World Wide Technology Raceway incident wasn’t the only time that Ross Chastain and Chase Elliott made contact. Although Chastain did admit to his “terrible driving” at the WWT Raceway, he couldn’t be entirely blamed for the Phoenix mishap.

After the restart around lap 200, Chase Elliott was trying hard to get ahead of his competitors before the Start/Finish line. However, soon, the Hendrick Motorsports driver’s car got stuck at the #1’s nose. And since he did not lift, the contact sent the #9 across the track and into the wall, ending his day at Phoenix.

However, unlike the WWT Raceway incident, Elliott did not exactly blame Chastain. In fact, according to the radio messages from Elliott’s car, the Hendrick Motorsports driver seemed confused if it was he who was at fault for the entire incident.
