In 2018, NASCAR asked some Chevrolet drivers the names of drivers that would want to be on their dream NASCAR team. And one of the drivers in question was the 2020 Cup Series Champion. Although his choices are quite logical, he did reveal that he was biased.

Of course, the first driver he chose was Jimmie Johnson. “I feel you have to put Jimmie in there.” He then revealed his bias when he said, “I would put my dad in there. I’m all biased.”

But of course, Bill Elliott is quite the legend in the Cup Series. And since he is his father, young Chase would have learned to drive from him, taking any and all criticism coming from him too. The other two drivers he chose are Darrell Waltrip, as he confessed that he’s “Always had big respect for how good of a short track racer he was.” And the final driver on his team is Davey Allison.

It is a well-rounded team for Cup Series, for sure. But Elliott himself is quite the all-rounder driver. In fact, he gained the points leader again in the playoffs as well, after winning the regular season.

He revealed his learnings from the race. “I just needed to be able to do a better job getting in some different lanes. And then being second there, the top had gotten so dominant there at the end.”
