In an unexpected turn of events at the ARCA race in Salem, legendary driver Dale Shearer was reported to be transported to the local hospital for evaluation. Shearer first started competing at the ARCA Menards Series in 2008 and has since competed in 30 such races. In 2023 he ran the full ARCA Menards Series East schedule for the first time. Right now, he races part-time only.

Initially, there was some uncertainty, as reports on social media indicated someone had been injured and taken to the hospital, but the identity was not immediately clear. But later, ARCA Menard Series themselves confirmed on their Twitter handle — “Dale Shearer, driver of the No. 98, has been transported to a local hospital for evaluation”

Earlier during the race, it looked like Shearer’s crew was in scrambles but most suspected it for not wearing head socks, but now it looks like they were negotiating a potential driver swap. FOX Sports has reported that the 64-year-old legendary driver was taken to the local hospital and they also noted that there was an ambulance delay. The news had sent ripples in the racing community, leaving fans and even peers waiting with bated breath for further updates on his condition.

Meanwhile, fans are showering their well-wishes on socials. One fan said, “Hope he is okay” and others are frustrated with the lack of information about the driver and are speculating. One fan said, “No one said why I don’t think he was in that crash wtf” and another said, “Agreed. Lack of information is very concerning.”

While the details are still sprouting, sources indicate that Dale Shearer is currently stable and is being checked out by the professionals at the hospital. This news comes as a bit of relief for certain, but it doesn’t completely calm the concerns for his concerned ones. The racing community is rallying around Dale Shearer during this challenging time, and we hope for his swift and full recovery.
