Ross Chastain simply lost it in WWT Raceway. What else could be the explanation for doing what he did in the race against almost half the field, and Denny Hamlin and Chase Elliott in particular?

The Trackhouse Racing driver drove recklessly throughout the race, leading to several wrecks. But he did duly apologize for it after the race too. The only problem was that he knew his apology of words wouldn’t nullify his actions on track.

“I just drove over my head so many times,” Chastain said. “It’s one thing to do it once, but I just kept driving into guys.”

“Words are not going to fix it. An apology is not going to fix it. Just terrible.”

Chastain admitted that it’s one thing to do it once, but to do it again, and again at this level is unacceptable, that he’s supposed to be “better than that.”

“I owe half the field an apology,” Chastain added. “And words aren’t going to fix it, so I’ll have to pay for it on the track. I almost did today and I deserve everything that they do.”

Hamlin appreciates the apology from Ross Chastain but suggests it’ll come back around

After the race, Denny Hamlin reacted to the whole ordeal between him, Ross Chastain, and Chase Elliott. And while the Joe Gibbs Racing acknowledged and appreciated the apology from Chastain, he suggested that his actions will come back to bite him on track.

“I mean, it’s good he takes responsibility,” Hamlin said. “But, you know, ultimately, it ruined our day.”

Hamlin added that the unfortunate part was that Chastain didn’t get “too shy” after his incident with him, because right after that, he made contact with Chase Elliott.

“We all have learned the hard way, and we’ve all had to have it come back around on us and it’ll be no different,” he added.
