The NASCAR AAA Texas 500 race from November 8, 2010, was memorable for more than just one reason. The race saw a Jeff Gordon and Jeff Burton crash, which later ended with Gordon sending down a few blows at Burton in disgust.

While the field was running under caution, on Lap 190, Burton’s #31 Caterpillar Chevrolet got at the rear of Gordon’s #24 Chevrolet, sending it against the wall of Turn 3.

Burton had put the whole incident down to the Sun getting in his eye, and Gordon was anything but buying it.

Later, when the drivers had climbed out of their cars, Gordon made his way straight to Burton and landed a few fists. The NASCAR officials had to intervene and prevent anything serious.

Let alone the crash, Gordon was livid at the fact that Burton got into such a position in the very first place that resulted in the crash

However, Burton was all apology and could totally relate to the behavior from Gordon post the crash.

He said, “I knew he was going to be mad. I don’t blame him for being mad. He was upset, and he should have been upset.

I didn’t mean to wreck him, but I wrecked him under caution. I don’t have a bit of a problem with what he did,” he further expressed.

Gordon denied sitting in the same ambulance as Burton while being ferried to the infield care center. “I didn’t want to ride in the ambulance with him, I tell you that,” he said.

Jeff Gordon and some of his fights in NASCAR

While Jeff Gordon is considered one of the greats of the sport, he can also get quite corporal at times. In fact, he has been involved in quite a few of the clashes that have happened.

The one that he had with Clint Bowyer during the race at Phoenix in November 2012 when he was pushed to the wall.

Then, when he was tapped from behind by Matt Kenseth in Bristol. It was in the final lap that this happened, which sent Gordon’s car for a spin. Gordon clearly wasn’t happy and landed a blow to Kenseth’s chest.

Jeff Gordon has 98 NASCAR races wins, with 93 of them coming in the Cup Series. He also has 4 titles in the Busch Series. His final NASCAR victory came at Martinsville in 2015.
