The inaugural race weekend at the Los Angeles Coliseum finally came to a close on Sunday and it was exciting. Of course, being a very short track, some action and carnage was expected. Right on cue, there was an incident involving Penske driver Ryan Blaney and Petty GMS Motorsports driver Erik Jones.

Apparently, the #43 driver gave him the classic bump and run tactic and nearly squeezed him into the wall. As a result, he lost a place to Christopher Bell as well. Later on, a fuming Blaney took off his HANS device and flung it at the #43 car. Speaking about the incident, he said, “He wants to destroy me for seventh. It really made no sense, but I don’t know. I’m just kind of riding around, running into the back of me killed our car. I was mad, but you’ll have that.

Where did Ryan Blaney and Erik Jones finish the race?

In the end, the Team Penske #12 driver could only finish 17th on the track. Meanwhile, Jones managed an impressive 4th place at the Busch Light Clash. Jones finished behind eventual race winner Joey Logano, pole-sitter Kyle Busch and Austin Dillon. At least poor old Blaney can take comfort that his teammate managed to win the race.

Now, a lot of his efforts will be focused on the upcoming Daytona 500 later this month. Ryan Blaney can be thankful that this Busch Light Clash did not offer any points. He knows that the real 2022 NASCAR Cup Series season kicks off at Daytona. Blaney will also be happy that Logano’s win confirms that Team Penske has the pace to challenge at the front.

For a long time, it has normally been Hendrick Motorsports or Joe Gibbs Racing ruling the roost. Occasionally, Team Penske chips in with a win or two. However, this is a major confidence booster for the organisation, as they have also become the first race winners with the Next Gen car.
