Brown averaged 26.6 points, 6.9 rebounds and 3.5 assists in 67 games for the Celtics. He was an integral part of the Celtics’ second consecutive Eastern Conference Finals appearance.

The luxury tax currently is around $21 million for the Celtics, according to Spotrac. With Brown’s super-max extension looking imminent, the Celtics might have to prepare to pay upwards of $21 million.

This figure might take them ahead of the Miami Heat, who pay $24 million. Interestingly, even the Heat will have to pay a huge luxury tax considering all the Damian Lillard rumors. The Portland Trail Blazers star’s move is looking closer than ever and might happen anytime soon.
