Lance Armstrong Is Petrified of 35YO Kevin Durant, Calls His Feet A “Horror Movie”

Professional Cycling legend Lance Armstrong recently released another episode of his podcast, ‘WEDU’. 6x NBA All-Star Blake Griffin joined in as a guest host. During the conversation, he was seen switching gears and turning his attention towards discussing the “wear and tear” that basketball players have experienced over the years. Despite being an athlete himself, Armstrong stated his disbelief at how “gross” the feet of prominent NBA players could be. He added a personal element to his opinion by recalling what one of his friends experienced when meeting Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant at a pool party. Despite witnessing firsthand the reportedly abnormal size and shape of the player’s feet, the friend could not convince Armstrong that what he saw was true. However, once the people around him started googling ‘Kevin Durant’s feet’, the truth was revealed.
“This sh*t is….you’re in the business of making movies now,” said Armstrong when describing Durant’s feet. “This is a straight-up horror movie”. Blake Griffin stated that even though his feet have also seen better days, his condition is nowhere close to that of the two-time NBA champion. Given that Griffin is currently a free agent and not affiliated with any NBA team, Armstrong did not hold back in sending a piece of advice towards the player’s way. “I don’t know what you’re going to do, retire or not, but if there is anything that might influence the decision, just google ‘Kevin Durant’s feet,’” Armstrong added.

Kevin Durant is not the only one whose feet have been a topic of conversation amongst NBA enthusiasts. From Shaquille O’Neal to LeBron James, the wear and tear experienced by basketball players on their feet has gotten more traction than what some people would have expected. Durant, who wears size 18 shoes, undoubtedly has some of the biggest trotters that have set foot on a basketball court. While the player has learned to live them, he still questions whether they prevented his team from marking an important chapter in the league’s history.

Back in 2021, Kevin Durant was playing for the Brooklyn Nets. The team secured a record of 48-28 during the regular season to advance to the playoffs. With some miracle and hard work, the Nets even reached the Eastern Conference Semifinals, where they competed against the Milwaukee Bucks. The decision of which team would proceed to the next stage came down to Game 7 of the series. During the final six seconds of the same, the Bucks were leading by 2 points. As the whistle rang, the ball came into Durant’s possession, and he possibly used it to go for a 3-pointer.
However, since the front edge of his toe was on the line, the player was only awarded 2 points, causing the game to go into overtime. The Nets did not thrive in the same and got eliminated. According to sports journalist Malika Andrews, Kevin Durant clarified that he was going for a 3-pointer. “But my big a*s foot stepped on the line,” said Durant. “I just saw how close I was to ending their season with that shot.”

The phrase “inches away” is often used in a non-literal manner. In the case of the 2021 Nets, however, it would perfectly fit.
