Phoenix Suns Latest News Leave Fans Frustrated Amid Speculations of Coach Vogel’s Termination

With the 2023-24 season reaching its final phase, teams in the NBA need as much help as they can get. The Phoenix Suns are no different, as they handed 35-year-old veteran Isaiah Thomas a 10-day contract on 20 March. That contract has expired today, but the Suns have handed Thomas another 10-day contract. IT last played in the NBA back in the 2021-22 season for the Los Angeles Lakers before joining Phoenix.
However, Isaiah Thomas has only managed to notch up 10 minutes of playing time up until now. Thomas made his long-awaited return against the Philadelphia 76ers. His entry into the game was met with a huge round of applause. IT showed his appreciation in return through his X account. He wrote, “Man it felt good to put that Suns jersey back on. I appreciate the love frfr.”

On 30 March, Isaiah Thomas scored his first points in the NBA after almost two years, as he scored 5 points in 8 minutes of playing time. While it is good to see IT back in the NBA, fans shouldn’t anticipate him being given a significant role in the team’s rotation. Phoenix Suns’ HC Frank Vogel has been very clear about IT’s role within their rotation, stating to reporters that he essentially serves as a backup to backup point guard Saban Lee.
Speaking of Frank Vogel, he himself has come under a lot of scrutiny because of the Suns’ inconsistent performances. With the Suns languishing in the 7th spot in the Western Conference, demands for his dismissal are increasing with each passing game. Several fans have questioned his decision making, and his treatment of Isaiah Thomas has further increased frustrations surrounding the Suns.
Fans of the Phoenix Suns voice their frustrations
The Phoenix Suns have basically played the entire 2023-24 season without a starting quality point guard. Both Devin Booker and Bradley Beal have excelled when playing as a shooting guard. So, when the Suns handed Isaiah Thomas a contract, many believed he would at least be able to lead the second unit. However, IT has struggled to secure regular playing time. This has frustrated many Suns’ faithful. One X user even questioned, “But why though? He ain’t playing!” when the Suns handed another 10-Day contract to IT.
But why though? 🤷🏽♀️ He ain't playing! 🤨
