The Dallas Mavericks have started the season in exceptional form. After last season’s disappointing 11th-place finish, the Mavs’ fans expected a better showing this season, and they have got exactly that. Luka Doncic’s amazing performances are one of the reasons behind Mavs’ stellar start. But, the assimilation of Kyrie Irving into the rotation has been a crucial factor, in addressing chemistry problems from the previous season.

However, Kyrie and the Mavericks suffered an injury scare yesterday in a game against the Blazers. The Blazers broadcast reported that Irving left the court in a wheelchair after suffering a foot injury. But, was the reporting correct?

Yesterday, The Mavericks defeated the Blazers 125-112. The win propelled them past the Nuggets, into the 3rd position in the Western Conference standings with a record of 13 wins and 8 losses. However, Kyrie Irving suffered an injury after teammate Dwight Powell fell on his leg. The Blazers broadcast reported that Kyrie left the court in a wheelchair. But now we know that those reports were false, as Mavs coach Jason Kidd denied those reports. He said, “Well all reporting is not all factual, is it? Or should we all believe it? I think he hasn’t left the building, he’s still here.”

Landon Thomas, a reporter for Mavs Fans for Life, also commented on the situation. He wrote on X, “If Kyrie Irving truly is still in the arena, the Trail Blazers broadcast should be ashamed… That’s out of line and something you get confirmed.” Irving played 13 minutes in the game and recorded 11 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists. Kyrie tried to walk off the injury, but the Mavs didn’t take any chances and withdrew him from the game. They have scheduled an MRI for Kyrie’s right foot.

Fans react to the BlazersTV’s false reporting

Many fans and journalists took to X (formerly Twitter) to condemn BlazersTV. According to Brad Townsend, a reporter for Dallas Morning News, “Hardaway says the team was happy and relieved when they returned to the locker room and Irving was there to greet them. “He was in great spirits. Hopefully, he won’t be out long.”

Another fan by the username of Christopher Corey wrote, “THJ just said Kyrie was the first to greet the team after the win.”
