There were challenges for the Los Angeles Clippers after they traded for James Harden from the Philadelphia 76ers. After six consecutive losses, Russell Westbrook was moved from the team to the bench, with Harden taking the position of the starting point guard. Ever since then, the Clippers have shown some signs of rebirth as they won two successive matches, which included a great comeback against the San Antonio Spurs.

James Harden’s assist streak with no turnovers

In the latest encounter with the Spurs, there was a unique trait that James Harden displayed. He had ten assists, but no turnovers. This was his sixth career game of having double-digit assists without a single turnover. Harden’s resilience and adaptability have shone through even in his team’s losing streak.

In particular, during the previous match against the Rockets, he scored 24 points and 9 rebounds along with 7 assists and won for the team by making the game-winning 3-point shot. Law Murray’s observations point to a major shift in how the Clippers relate to each other and suggest that Harden as the head is the formula that works for the team.

During his stay with the Clippers, Harden has an average of 16.5 points, 5.2 rebounds, 4.7 assists, and 1.0 steals per game. Shot at a massive 51.6% from the court, 38.7% beyond the arc, and a whopping 95.8% from the free throw, Harden has helped the Clippers tremendously.

The team is currently placed at 11th in the Western Conference with 5-7 as their record. However, a good run with Harden as the team’s main player is evidenced, portending a better future for it. James Harden’s effect was not exclusive in the recent win over the Spurs.

The turnover-free symphony of Harden and Westbrook

In an impressive one, Murray noted that the duo registered 16 assists, with no turnovers between them in their collaboration, showing some exceptional coordination. This was the second time that Westbrook had no turnovers in a game with the Clippers.

It was a case of one-way traffic from start to finish as the youthful Spurs went for the ropes, only to be floored by a heavyweight champion in the shape of the Clippers. The entire team performance was superb and almost all players of the Clippers played well. Harden directed the offense, and Theis excelled on both sides of the floor in the first quarter.

Clippers’ defense made it stand by giving their team first-quarter advantage of 33-27. As such, this trend was maintained throughout the game. Harden’s superbness and Westbrook’s input made it 66-55 at halftime.
