Two  months ago, James Harden said, “Daryl Morey is a liar and I will never be a part of an organization that he’s a part of.” Since then, The Beard‘s disappearance from 76ers practices and his notable absence from the preseason finale have debunked any hopes of “professionalism”. Harden’s antics have finally prompted a response from the President of Basketball Operations, himself, Daryl Morey.

More recently, Morey opened up about feeling hopeful in the wake of the former MVP’s inevitable exit from the Sixers. At the same time, his comments might provide clarity to fans about Harden’s situation.

By now, it’s abundantly clear that James Harden and Daryl Morey have taken differing approaches to the trade saga. Morey’s choice pleased numerous league executives but strained James’s relationship with his once most vocal supporter. This entire saga appears to be agitating many in the NBA community, eventually provoking a definitive response from Morey.

10 years after the two first linked up in Houston, the relationship between the executive and The Beard has clearly deteriorated. In a recent interview with the Philadelphia Inquirer, The Sixers’ President of Basketball Operations shed light on the James Harden saga that looms over his legacy.

This year regardless of what happens with James, we’re going to be a very [bleeping] good team,” said Morey. He further added, “If James is here, we’re going to be even better. If James isn’t here or we trade him for something, we’re going to be very good.”

 

On the other hand, one of the teams James Harden expressed interest in joining was the Clippers. Significantly, the LA-based side reciprocated that interest and aimed to bring Harden on board. However, there will be inevitable collateral damage in his move to the franchise.

The Beard’s Move to the Clippers Threatens Terrence Mann

While letting go of franchise superstars like Paul George and Kawhi Leonard was never on the table, 27-year-old Terrence Mann entered the picture.

Mann recently opened up about the scenario in an interview. He said, “I was prepared for whatever. Still am. It’s just how it is.” However, Clippers head coach Tyronn Lue has debunked that notion saying, “We love T-Mann, and T-Mann is gonna be here.”
