Victor Wembanyama can truly do it all. Not only is he among the tallest players to play in the league, he also possesses skills which are unlike anyone his size. He can shoot from range, create space like a guard and ferociously protect the rim. A talent like this, falling in the hands of the legendary coach Gregg Popovich is just the icing on the cake.

Victor’s impact surfaced long before he even entered his Draft Class. His talent was so generational that it kicked off some of the greatest tanking efforts from several teams. The right to draft Victor was treated as a coveted prize. However, Victor landed in a team with a history of turning their No.1 picks into superstars. With the legacy of David Robinson and Tim Duncan to uphold, Wembanyama’s task is not simple.

With Victor’s skillset, it seems almost impossible to guard or score against the No.1 pick. The question of how good he is actually going to be is truly intriguing. With the whole league trying to figure out ways to stop the French unicorn, Draymond Green seems to have his plans clear.

Has Draymond Green cracked the code?

In a recent conversation with his fellow NBA superstar, Draymond Green was asked how he would stop the No.1 pick. Draymond however, seemed to have his blueprint ready. “You not just dribbling through me like the Harlem Globetrotters,” said Draymond.

He then took a more tactical approach by saying he would press on him and not let him get comfortable. Draymond feels that with a guy like Victor, you got to do the work early. Crowding him from the moment he gets the rebound and starts running down the court seems to be Draymond’s approach to guarding Wembanyama.

If you do that against talents like that, ain’t nothing you can do to stop that,” said Draymond.

Draymond, however, acknowledged Victor’s talent, also mentioning that going to San Antonio was the best thing that happened to him. Nevertheless, he proved what makes him so lethal on defence. The former NBA Defensive Player of the Year showed his knowledge of basketball and presence of mind defensively yet again.
