It looks like people really want to see a 50-year-old Shaquille O’Neal go up against Rudy Gobert. Shaq and Rudy’s beef has been going on for years now. And it was reignited in the past couple of days after Shaq’s comments about Gobert.

In the newest episode of ‘The Big Podcast with SHAQ’ called ‘The Big Heart of Texas’, Spice Adams, Nischelle and O’Neal discussed the playoff series between the Suns and the Mavs.

But Spice tried to instigate a match-up between Rudy Gobert and Shaquille O’Neal. In a hilarious attempt, he was wearing a #27 Jazz jersey. Of course, Shaq took notice and asked whether Nischelle and Adams think this is funny. He said, “The man that stood the test of time with Patrick Ewing, David Robinson, Tim Duncan, Hakeem Olajuwon and you guys speak about Rudy Gobert. Don’t do that.”

But Adams isn’t going to let it go that easily and suggested that Shaq and the Jazz center should settle it in the next year’s All-Star weekend. The Big Diesel denied saying that he is 50. And Spice said that O’Neal could get in shape before next year’s All-Star weekend.

So Shaq gave a warning saying, “You know what? I would do this. I would give him 3 attempts to block my dunks. If I start training in November and get my dunk legs ready, I’ll be ready.” Hearing this Spice was visibly hyped.

But the Lakers legend was just goofing around. He said that he declines the match-up because he is 50. He then said, “Rudy you win!” and started waving what appears to be a white flag.

Shaquille O’Neal vs. Rudy Gobert

Recently Shaq’s son Myles joined the party by commenting on Shaq’s post where he shared a screenshot of Rudy’s comments on the Bleacher Report post. O’Neal’s son, Myles commented on his father’s post. He wrote, “Does anyone actually believe that Rudy thinks this? Let’s stop lying to ourselves; it’s obviously becoming a problem.”

We understand Adams wanting to see Shaq against Gobert. If people believe a 50-year-old Shaq could beat, imagine what he would do in his prime.

And Shaq was true about his displays against some of the legends of the game like Patrick Ewing, David Robinson, Tim Duncan, and Hakeem Olajuwon. You can definitely add a couple more Hall of Famers who were toyed around by a prime Shaquille O’Neal.

While Rudy Gobert is a very good defender, he isn’t as strong and can’t compete with a prime Shaq’s brute force. But in the current generation, there are no centers remotely close to Shaq. And Rudy is built and equipped to defend the current generation of centers who could shoot.

His lack of strength and weight helps him to move faster. Also, he can defend the paint. So you could say Gobert is well equipped for this generation but never locking up a prime Shaquille O’Neal. No one could.
