Dennis Rodman: “They Had Bets in Vegas When I Was 40 Years Old About What Year I Was Going To Die”

NBA fans consider Dennis Rodman as one of the most controversial figures in basketball. The Detroit Pistons legend left a legacy of unquestionable brilliant NBA achievements with the Pistons. Rodman also commanded respect from Chicago Bulls fans. He played alongside NBA legends like Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, and others for the Bulls.

Dennis Rodman received a lot of attention from the media after his initial retirement in 2000. He was prone to partying quite heavily even in his late 30s. Rodman recently revealed details about his partying life post his NBA career. In an interview with GQ Sports, Rodman disclosed how bookies planned to make bets over his potential demise.

Dennis said, “They had bets in Vegas when I was 40 years old about what year I was going to die. You go in like… what they call it? The sports books in the casinos. You go in and say, ‘Oh, 10 to 1 Dennis Rodman is going to die this year.’ That kind of shit.

The Detroit Pistons selected Dennis Rodman in the 1986 NBA Draft as the third pick in the second round (27th overall). At the Pistons, Rodman was a part of the legendary ‘Bad Boys’ team under Chuck Daly. He won two NBA titles with the Pistons in 1989 and the following in 1990. He joined the Chicago Bulls in 1995 and was a part of the historic three-peat winning team between 1996 to 1998.

Dennis Rodman, a five time NBA champion, was inducted into the basketball Hall of Fame in 2011. The 6’7 legendary forward won the Defensive Player of the Year award two times in 1990 and 1991. The NBA also selected him as the rebounding champion seven times between 1992 to 1998.

In a game against the Phoenix Suns, Rodman scored 0 points for the Chicago Bulls. ‘The Worm’ instead had 20 rebounds, six assists. He made four shots but missed all of them. Rodman also surprisingly recorded six turnovers. The game, which took place on December 15, 1997, remains one of Rodman’s most bizarre games.
