The league’s Competition Committee discussed making changes to the rules of the game back in November. As the season goes on, the fouls are becoming more frequent, resulting in the league office taking action on it. And to apply a rule that discourages this tactic usually used by players. Following the news that the NBA is likely to introduce drastic rule changes, fans rejoiced.
The NBA is ready to take action against unnecessary fouls
Specifically, the reason for implementing this rule is that players intentionally foul ball-handlers following turnovers prevent obvious fast breaks at the time. Since the season started, this has been a hot topic since it generally slows down the game and takes away some of the most exciting elements.
This means that the NBA is considering a huge step that will completely eliminate the possibility of players making this a reality. In Twitter conversations, we found out that fans are happy with the current rule change scenario, especially with what’s happening this season. Even some mentioned Giannis Antetokounmpo: “Giannis Averaging 50.”

If we look at the rule book of the NBA, there is a rule that has clear-path fouls that actually allow two foul shots and possession. This condition can only be met when “the ball is ahead of the tip of the circle in the backcourt. No defender is ahead of the offensive player with the transition scoring opportunity; the player with the transition scoring opportunity is in control of the ball (or a pass has been thrown to him); and if the foul deprives his team of an opportunity to score.”
