The debate about who is the greatest of all time in basketball still rages on to this day. People still argue about who was better – Chicago Bulls‘ Michael Jordan or LA Lakers‘ LeBron James? Two remarkable players that defined the generation that they played in- but all fans are concerned about is who was the better player in their prime.

Rick Ross on Jordan vs LeBron

Hip-hop superstar Rick Ross spoke to Shannon Sharpe for his podcast. When asked about who he thinks the GOAT is, Ross gave a clear-cut answer. He praised LeBron James for what he did for his hometown Miami Heat but clarified that Michael Jordan was the best, and LeBron was behind him.

He said, “The GOAT is Michael Jordan. LeBron James came to my city, Miami, and turned my city up without a doubt. Shaq did it with D-Wade. LeBron most definitely came and turned my city up. But when we say the GOAT, that’s an abbreviation for greatest of all time. That’s what Michael Jordan is. LeBron is going to come number two.”

Michael Jordan still considered the greatest ever.

Ross further clarified who he believes are his top-three players. His third-best player being Charles Barkley was a surprise to Sharpe, but he noted that he liked the ‘OGs’ of the game. And that is exactly what he thought of Jordan. He noted how tough Jordan was, despite his size and stature compared to bigger NBA players.

Ross added, “I got Jordan one, LeBron two, and number three I’m going with (Charles) Barkley. I like certain kinds of players. I love OGs. That’s what I love about Jordan so much. Jordan was hard. He looked like he was a g****mn college student, but Jordan really was hard.”

It’s clear that Rick Ross is part of the older generation that believes ardently that Michael Jordan is the greatest of all time. However, the younger generation has taken LeBron James as their best player ever. The debate between these two sides rages on to this day.

Who is the GOAT – Jordan or LeBron? Perhaps there will never be any agreement on the issue. But both have changed the sport of basketball beyond any measure.
