Former NBA star Shaquille O’Neal voted for the first time in his life in the 2020 presidential election. As he was talking to USA Today Sports about this, he said something that is quite shocking. During the discussion, he mentioned that his mother wasn’t happy with his son not using his right to vote.

While talking to USA Today Sports, the 15-time NBA All-Star said: “I don’t have any excuses, but I didn’t have time.”That’s a bad excuse. My mom was disappointed. But this year, I made time.”

Taking a look at Shaq’s busy life, he does seem to be managing a lot of work. He became a prominent businessman after his NBA career. According to Distractify, the list of his business ventures includes 17 Auntie Annie’s Pretzels restaurants, 155 Five Guys Burgers restaurants, 150 car wash stations, 40 fitness centers, a shopping center, a movie theater, and several Las Vegas nightclubs.

Shaquille O’Neal revealed on his podcast why he never voted before

On Shaq’s podcast “The Big Podcast with Shaq,” he talked about his first time voting. He confirmed that he has submitted his absentee ballot. He continued by mentioning that he hadn’t voted before, to which he replied:

“I voted for the first time,” O’Neal said on the podcast. “I’ve never voted before, America. But, now I’m doing all these voting campaigns, and you know one thing I never like to do is be a hypocrite.”

In the report, he reiterated his stance of not voting before acknowledging that he had “never understood the electoral college system.”

Lucille has always been involved with charities and helping children. As a doctor, an author, a speaker, and a socialite, she has every right to be dissatisfied. She has made many contributions to the city by helping others. As soon as she learned about this, she was angry at Shaq. This is understandable considering the importance of voting rights. The fact that Shaq hasn’t used this for so many years can be quite upsetting.
