“Sending His Farewells to the Crowd Like He’s Kobe”: Karl-Anthony Towns Gets Bashed by Fans Over Emotional Reaction to NBA Playoffs Elimination

The Minnesota Timberwolves crashed out of the playoffs after the loss against the Memphis Grizzlies. The Grizzlies concluded the series in game 6 after making it 4-2 in Minnesota. Karl-Anthony Towns scored 30 points in the 6th game, but it was in vain as the Grizzlies were too good in the end.
It was a team performance from Memphis instead of one player killing off the game. A total of 6 players from the Grizzlies scored points in double digits. Desmond Bane and Dillon Brooks both got 23, while Ja Morant and Brandon Clarke scored 17. Jaren Jackson Jr. scored 18 and also got 14 rebounds.

Karl-Anthony Towns has crossed the 30 points twice in the series while also getting 29 in game 1 and 28 in game 5. However, he could only manage 15 and 8 in game 2 and 3, respectively. His inconsistency has been a concern and now even after getting 33 in game 6 the team could not fashion out a victory. KAT played only his second playoff series of his career. He averaged 21.6 this season, but like the last time, they were eliminated from the playoffs in the first round itself.

NBA fans troll Karl-Anthony Towns after the Minnesota Timberwolves elimination
The Minnesota Timberwolves, with KAT, qualified for the playoffs in 2017-18 before this season. They lost the game series 4-1 against the Toronto Raptors that season. This time around they have exited the first round after losing 4-2 to the Memphis Grizzlies. The exit was followed by an emotional Karl-Anthony Towns thanking the fans. However, to some fans it looked like an overreaction while some fans backed KAT.

Not after you blew multiple leads over the course of the series you realistically should’ve won in 6 at most with how bad the grizzlies were 80% of the series

He took two bad threes with a lead (ignoring every other blunder early on) at the close of the game. He is a horrendous interior defender who the offense hunts (specifically Ja). He’s not even the best player on his team (arguably).

Tf this gotta do with Kobe? He was thanking the fans for their support throughout the season. Y’all just some certified haters lmao.

This was not the first time the Timberwolves players were accused of ‘overreacting’. The similar response was received by Patrick Beverley and the rest of the squad after their play in tournament victory against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Minnesota Timberwolves had some horrendous passages of play all throughout the series. They blew multiple double digit leads in multiple games. In one game, they blew over a 20 point leads twice. In game 6 as well, the Grizzlies ended the game 18 points clear in the 4th quarter to win by 8 points in the end, meaning they overcame another double digit trail. Obviously, the Timberwolves have a lot of potential. As such, they must finish games in the future to get the most out of this talented young roster.
