Draymond Green wants to respect teammates while deciding on future

While speaking on PG13’s podcast, Green opened up about his free agency journey. After more than a decade in San Francisco, Draymond declined his hefty player option earlier this year.

While deciding on his future, he emphasized his commitment to keeping Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson informed. Since the trio has won 4 championships together, it’s clear that the 6’6” forward values their history. He underscores the importance of their relationship in his decision-making process.

Clippers guard Paul George, asked Draymond, “Y’all been through so much. Y’all won together. What was your relationship from then? And now what?” 

In his own words, “You know, I’m going through a free agency right now. You know, you hear this and you hear that, and just updating them on like my thoughts like every step of the way I update them like just kind of letting them know my mindset, what I’m thinking.”

His response was a testament to the deep-rooted camaraderie. Even if the trio is inevitably split up, Draymond Green does not want to sacrifice the trust in their relationship. It’s lovely to see such respect being shared by teammates, even as they wade through uncertain times.

A brotherhood that dominated the NBA extends beyond the court

The trio of Green, Curry, and Thompson, has been Golden State’s ‘Big Three.’ They were instrumental in the Warriors’ dominance in the league over the past decade. Their synergy on the court, coupled with their unique talents, has seen them make 6 Finals appearances since 2015.

He explained,  “So I’ve been like updating them to like every step of the way. Over the last couple of weeks about just what I’m hearing, you know what some of the possibilities may be just to keep them in the loop. That’s our relationship and that’s what makes it special.”
