The NBA has set the stage for some of the most incredible sporting moments over the years. However, what Luka Doncic was able to produce against the New York Knicks was nothing short of a miracle. In what became an overtime miracle, the Dallas Mavericks superstar exploded for a 60-point, 21-rebound, 10-assist triple-double, the first in NBA history. One man who gave Doncic immense props was NFL legend, Shannon Sharpe. Putting his historic night into words, he admitted even Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan couldn’t be in the same breath.

With no more than 30 seconds left in the game, the Mavs looked to be facing a loss to an undermanned Knicks. Down by nine, the American Airlines Center couldn’t predict just what their 23-year-old wizard would produce. With the assistance of his teammates, Doncic and the Mavs pulled back the game. Pulling off the infamous free throw miss-play, they forced the game into overtime. Despite being tired, the three-time All-Star would score another 7 points to bring his tally to 60 for the night, a franchise high.

His night fell right in midst of a debate between two familiar faces, Shannon Sharpe and Skip Bayless. The three-time Super Bowl champion was thoroughly impressed with the former Rookie of The Year. The Denver Broncos icon even said Doncic’s game was better than some of Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant’s most iconic performances.

Sharpe puts Luka Doncic miles ahead of Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant?

The question to the debate was just how impressive the 23-year-old’s 60 points, 21 rebounds, and 10 assists were in the overtime thriller. With the maximum rating of 10, Sharpe went as far as giving Luka Doncic 1,000. Moreover, he said even that wasn’t enough, to sum up just what the three-time All-Star did against the Knicks. As the Mavericks needed all that Doncic gave in the win, Sharpe put him above Bryant and Jordan.

He said, “60/20! That’s what’s so impressive, and they needed all of it. Skip, we’ve seen guys get numbers. If you remember Jordan when he scored 63 points. I saw that, I was a senior in high school, but they lost. Devin Booker had 70, they lost. Kobe’s 81, great performance. But Kobe had 6 rebounds, and 2 assists and it ended up being a blowout. Skip this was a 1,000. I tried to tell you I wanted to get you on this train so me and you could finally wrap our arms around the same guy. But you didn’t want to listen to me. Now the train has left the station and I can’t let you get on.”

The Black Mamba slaughtered the Toronto Raptors in 2006 with an 81-point night. To this day it remains to be the second-highest tally behind Wilt Chamberlain’s 100. However, the Los Angeles Lakers would win that game convincingly. On the other hand, Michael Jordan scored 63 points against one of the most brutal squads assembled, in the Boston Celtics, who were in just as much shock as the masses. Larry Bird even went as far as saying His Airness was a god that night. Unfortunately, a spectacular night ended with the six-time MVP on the losing side.

The Mavericks needed all that Luka Doncic squeezed out in the overtime win over New York. He hit the 60-point mark in overtime battling against the counterpunch by the Knicks on the other end. The three-time All-Star put up a generational performance, scoring in volume while making everyone around him better.
