Marcus Smart had a lot planned for this Christmas day, not only celebrating the occasion but also proposing to his long-term girlfriend. Taking advantage of this big announcement, he teased his fans on social media. As a Boston Celtics star, he made a good start on the court, contributing 6 points and 8 assists to help his team win against the Milwaukee Bucks 139-118. 

This was just the start of the big day for Smart. On Twitter, he started teasing his fans about the news after this. The first thing he tweeted was, “Guess what”.

NBA fans were confused as they shared their thoughts on what the news could be, but did not know what to expect. In the next few minutes, he posted another tweet mentioning, “I’ve had enough. Been holding it in too long and it’s about time this gets said ….” 

The comment section became more and more lively as fans expressed their excitement. It took him just a few minutes to inform the fans of the news. “Oh, I forgot the rest… Time for me to leave the single life. She said YES!!!

It wasn’t long before social media started exploding with comments and tweets as fans shared their excitement. Immediately following this news, fans floated the comments section with love.

Following the Celtics’ victory over the Bucks on Christmas day, NBA fans congratulated the star and commented on how he was winning both on and off the court.

After the game, a reporter made a funny observation

Adam Himmelsbach made an interesting observation after the big game, as reported by the Boston Globe. “Marcus was in an absolutely giddy mood when he left the locker room, and (Jayson) Tatum gave him a big hug,” Himmelsbach said on Twitter.

For Smart, this was indeed his best year. The fact that his team reached the NBA Finals last season, then he won the NBA Defensive Player of the Year, and he won the big game on Christmas. Furthermore, he is now engaged.
