Mavs legend Dirk Nowitzki has always used his position to help the people and to give back to the community. He played for the Dallas Mavericks for 21 years. Having lived in Texas for that long, it is now a second home to the German-born power forward. With this in mind, Dirk Nowitzki has stepped up to help the people.

This fall, Nowitzki is giving back to the community of North Texas and has organized a food drive for 1,000 families.

According to Fox 4 News, he is doing this as part of the Dirk Nowitzki Foundation. Pre-registration was not required for the food drive held on November 9. It was open to the public, and local firefighters, along with law enforcement officers, volunteered to help with the initiative.

Along with the Dirk Nowitzki Foundation, the event was held in partnership with the Dallas Tennis and Education Academy (DTEA). Apart from the food drive for 1000 families, 100 meals were delivered to families and senior citizens of selected areas.

A reporter in Dallas, Alan Scalia, posted images on Twitter and captioned them, “Dirk is loading turkeys, side dishes & blankets into cars for Thanksgiving. He’s working with volunteers, Dallas Police officers and DPS troopers. One of the people driving through says, “We really appreciate him. It’s such a blessing.”.

Nowitzki has always been a kind person and has never missed an opportunity to give back to the community. He had done similar philanthropic work back in 2020, where he donated $135000 to local charities during the pandemic.

The 45-year-old legend said, “My family and I are happy that our foundation is able to assist our community at such an important time of year. As we approach the holidays and the weather gets colder, we want to give back to North Texas and help families in need.“.

Dirk Nowitzki has done it all during his playing days. He even led the Mavs to their one and only championship in franchise history. During the later years of his career, he had Jamahl Mosley as an assistant coach on the team.

Mosley revealed that he was often surprised by how great a human Dirk Nowitzki is. He said that he had never seen Dirk reject someone when they asked him for his autograph or to take a picture with him. The humility that Dirk possesses and everything that he does to give back has greatly influenced Mosley.
