The 2011 NBA Lockout. Gabrielle Union can blame the fourth and most recent lockout in the league’s history for her husband’s biggest obsession. The lockout came with restricted access to team facilities due to which he started to work out with a different trainer. “He introduced me to different types of workouts that I didn’t even know my body needed,” revealed Dwyane Wade back in 2012. And one of those workouts has now become the one thing Union and Wade will never do together.

“Yoga is a totally different way of stretching and really challenging,” added Wade, per The Wall Street Journal. “Just basic yoga. I wasn’t ready for the hot stuff.” While he may not have been ready for it in 2011, he sure is now. And although he’s dedicated to this form of yoga, his wife could do without it. The Hollywood star discussed this point of contention in her family during a recent interview.

In a conversation with Marie Claire, Union spilled some secrets about her conflicted relationship with hot yoga, how it often leaves Union wondering, “Why am I here?” She said, “I don’t love hot yoga. I’ve actually done it I-don’t-know-how-many times. Every time, I say, ‘Ok, this is my last time.’” Despite that, she finds herself going back to the routine every now and then. “Something always brings me back,” added Union. However, Dwyane Wade revels in the benefits of hot yoga.

Gabrielle Union revealed, “My husband swears by it, though. He has a whole crew.” Hot yoga is performed under hot and humid conditions and is believed to be very good for health. It also helps de-stress and helps improve flexibility and cardiovascular fitness. Despite its promising benefits, Wade hasn’t been able to convince Union to commit to hot yoga. “I don’t think I’m built for it,” the 51-year-old concluded.

So, when the D-Wade hot yoga crew is off to do their daily sessions, what does Gabrielle Union do to make up for it? “I’ll be at Pilates… in the air conditioning,” Gabrielle stressed. She certainly seems to have her priorities in place and won’t compromise on them, even if it means staying away from Wade’s yoga sessions. However, that doesn’t mean she doesn’t have her own wellness routine, even though it may be a fantasy.

Gabrielle Union’s search for silence amidst her stardom

Gabrielle Union may have had starring roles in movies like She’s All That and 10 Things I Hate About You. But at the end of the day, she’s just another person who loves unwinding as much as the rest of us. So, when she was asked what her ideal wellness routine would be, Union replied, “It would definitely center around silence. I’m sure all the moms can relate. Silence would be so awesome.” But once the dive into her fantasy world started, she couldn’t help but elaborate.

“Maybe I’d be at a beach location. I’d like a minimum two-hour massage,  have the Andre 3000 album on, and I would probably eat an acai bowl. I’d have the perfect Rocket Salad with the perfect ratio of hard Parmesan cheese.” Well, from the sound of it, it seems as though all of this would feature in Gabrielle’s rendition of the song, ‘My Favorite Things.’
