There are many recognizable faces in the NBA. But when it comes to identifying the most prominent NBA legend to have walked the face of this earth, there is only one  Michael Jordan. Dominating the basketball court through a 15-season career with the NBA, MJ created a legacy for himself that earned him worldwide acclaim and helped him become a billionaire. While millions of people call themselves fans of His Airness, there have been moments when Jordan himself has been a fan.

The man in question has a recognizable face. Though most fans might not know his name, Hollywood’s Leonardi DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence certainly do!

Dos Equis, a Mexican beer brand, was struggling to reach the pinnacle of success. They took their business to an advertising agency. As they brainstormed the idea for an eye-catching catchphrase that would get the brand their deserved recognition, the phrase “The most interesting man in the world” was born.

A Twitter handle by the name of ‘The Ad Professor’ recently featured a thread on its profile. It tells the story of “one of the best ads of all time.”

For the ad, they choose an American character actor by the name of Jonathon Goldsmith. From 2006 to 2016, he starred in various Dos Equis ads that identified him as ‘The Most Interesting Man in the World.’ During a recent interview, the now 84-year-old recalled the moment he came face to face with Michael Jordan himself.

According to Goldsmith, it happened when he was at a restaurant with a few members of his social media team and press agent. The Chicago Bulls legend was sitting with his own group across the room. Goldsmith described how all the people who wanted an autograph from the six-time NBA champion were being kept back.

Despite the crowd that surrounded him, Jordan was able to catch the eye of ‘The Most Interesting Man in the World’. Jordan gave a nod to Goldsmith, who returned it back to the player. Soon after that, Jordan approaches the actor’s table.

“He says ‘Mr Goldsmith, would you mind if I…?’ No no sure, Michael,” Goldsmith recalled during the interview. “And I immediately stood up on a chair next to him, put my arm around him, and took that picture with him. That was very nice.”

Jonathon Goldsmith came under the radar of other celebrities, including Barack Obama

The ‘The Most Interesting Man in the World’ campaign had an impact that Goldsmith probably could never have foreseen. With sales tripling in Canada and increasing by 22% in the US, it placed both the beer company and the actor on the map.

Michael Jordan wasn’t the only celebrity who had a fan moment with Goldsmith. From Leonardo DiCaprio to Jennifer Lawrence, everyone wanted a picture with the infamous personality. He even became one of the earliest trending memes. But his highest rank of honor came from Washington DC.
