Luka Doncic Upsets Dirk Nowitzki After Record-Breaking Feat as NBA Legend Makes Hilarious Confession

Dirk Nowitzki set the bar to become arguably the best player ever in the Dallas Mavericks franchise. After his retirement in 2019, there were some huge shoes to fill, but the Mavericks were blessed with a sensation from Slovenia. Luka Doncic has led the team from the front for half a decade now, but in this short span, he has also surpassed Nowitzki in a lot of notable records. While the German icon is proud of it, he is also pissed at Doncic for doing it quite too frequently.
In an episode for the NBA Unplugged with Kevin Hart, Nowitzki was questioned about Doncic setting a record now and then. The German legend hilariously replied, “Man, I’m so mad. He is breaking every one of my records, man. I’m so over.“ Hart couldn’t control his laughter. At this point, Doncic is making history every few games. So, it’s understandable that Nowitzki is annoyed.
However, this did not stop him from giving his flowers to Doncic. He added, “I’m thrilled for him obviously…my last year was his first year in this league…He has no offensive holes in his game. he can do it all… He has been tremendous to watch. Every year I’m saying, ‘This kid can’t possibly get better,’ and then he, sure enough, comes back with more in his repertoire.”

So from the above words, is it safe to say that Nowitzki believes Doncic is a better player than himself? Guess not!
Dirk Nowitzki roasted Mavericks owner Mark Cuban over his Luka Doncic take
Mark Cuban has owned the Dallas Mavericks for more than two decades now. He has led the team alongside Nowitzki since the early 2000s. He knows the best about the 2011 champion. Cuban continues to witness greatness from Luka Doncic now, so it would be tough for him to choose between the Slovenian guard and Nowitzki. Surprisingly, Cuban admitted that Doncic was a better player than the fadeaway king.

Cuban told in the Draymond Green Show, “Dirk knows I love him to death, right? Dirk and I go way, way back, but Dirk will be the first one to tell you that Luka is better.” However, Nowitzki has not agreed yet. He shared a hilarious reply, “The good thing is Mark doesn’t know anything about basketball.”
That’s a hard burn for Cuban! Anyhow, jokes apart, Nowitzki had already agreed that Doncic in his prime was better than him during his prime. That’s the brotherly love they hold.
