Magic Johnson may not be part of the Lakers management anymore but he’ll still motivate the team like one. The franchise’s superstar champion and legend is obviously thrilled with the ‘Lakeshow’ tonight. Following the spectacular win in the In-Season Tournament semifinals, Magic Johnson was on X in a timely fashion. This time, he had to laud the star of the night.

The Lakers thumped the Pelicans 133-89, leaving the 5x champion impressed. It was LeBron James’ strong performance in under 30 minutes that had everyone talking, Magic Johnson included. “Another dominant performance by LeBron James tonight, this is the first time in his career scoring 30 points in 25 minutes!” the former part owner tweeted.

LeBron James scored 30 points, 8 assists, and 5 rebounds in the total 23 minutes of playtime today. It warranted multiple posts from Johnson, including high praise for Taurean Prince too.

This is another notch in the King James library of all-time records. He’s the first NBA player to record 30+ points 5+ rebounds 5+ assists in 23 minutes or less. With that notch under his belt, he didn’t have to play the last 17 minutes of the game. Avid X-user, Magic, had to separately commend that with an added mind-blown emoji.

The Lakers shot the three well tonight, led by Taurean Prince’s five 3 pointers and LeBron going 4-4 from deep,” Johnson wrote. Prince played 23 minutes too and contributed 15 points to the 44-point blowout.

Seeing his old team play tonight was giving Magic more reason to enjoy the In-Season Tournament.

The In-Season Tournament had initially left everyone confused about the format and how different it is from the playoffs. Almost at the end of the tournament, the intense competitiveness and fierce action has thrilled more than one NBA legend. Charles Barkley is a recent convert to the new style after grilling Adam Silver about it months ago.

Magic Johnson too commended Adam Silver for an “electrifying” format through the In-Season Tournament. Many would testify that LeBron James is treating this NBA side-quest like a real championship with every record.

One take at a time

I was 7 when I saw 'Space Jam' but didn't know till the third rewatch the lead actor is actually a living basketball legend. It was while studying journalism that my friend would go on about the Warriors from Golden State. Keen on athletes' personas outside their arenas, it was Stephen Curry's confidence and philanthropy that drew me to follow the news on NBA pros and explore sports media.
