Who wants to watch the Bulls vs Warriors when the ‘Ring of Honor’ will be the highlight tomorrow? This is what Charles Barkley had in his mind when the Chicago Bulls announced that Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen as the first honorees for the inaugural event. Barkley was a friendly rival of the 6x NBA champion, but things changed after the two developed a beef over the years. The same is the case between Pippen and Jordan. Thus, the Philadelphia 76ers legend was excited to witness the awkwardness between the legendary Bulls duo.

On a special appearance at the Dan Patrick show, Barkley had shared, “I’m just gonna sit back in the corner and stare… I’m praying, please don’t have it on a night I gotta work…I’m gonna have to go to Chicago that day just to see it. You talk about weirdest, uncomfortable, uncomfortable won’t do it justice.” Well, there is a sudden change of events now!

The Bulls have informed that both Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen will not be attending the ceremony. Sadly, Charles Barkley‘s plans have been ruined now. It’s time to cancel the tickets to Chicago! Not just Barkley, but also the hoop fans are disappointed that Pippen and Jordan are not coming. The expectations were set high, only for an upset. At least, Jordan was kind enough to share a video that he will not be attending the event.

The 5x MVP shared, “I want to congratulate all the other recipients. I am so bummed that I can’t be there tonight, but I don’t want that to stop the fun that you guys are going to have.” Well, his attending the event was the “fun” part for Barkley.

Jordan added, “Believe me, I’m very grateful and very honored to the fans. You guys have supported me ever since I stepped foot in Chicago and even today I see a lot of Chicago fans all over. So I think we made an impression and changed what Chicago represents in terms of championships…I will always be a Chicago Bulls.”

Although Jordan will not make it to the event, a few fans are satisfied with this special video from the 6x champion. Anyhow, Barkley will be disappointed.
