Dwyane Wade recently clinched his first Oscar nomination. The NBA veteran is on cloud nine with the success of his documentary titled The Barber of Little Rock. Wade was an executive producer on the project that focuses on America’s widening racial wealth gap from the eyes of a local barber.
Currently on a promotional run for the project and celebrating the Oscar nomination, Wade unveiled that he is still jealous, or rather having FOMO because he’s missing out on the community experience.
During his recent appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, the 3x NBA champion talked about the Oscar-nominated documentary and his daughter Zaya. Wade said, “I feel like I’ve been a storyteller my entire life. For me to be able to accomplish things that I have in life, I had to tell myself the most unbelievable story ever”. As for his documentary, the NBA veteran said that it is a very important story and he wanted to be a part of it because of that. He said, “These are the things that I personally identify with, whether it’s the community I grew up with that is very similar to The Barber of Little Rock and also being a father of Zaya Wade who is transgender.”
