The “Godfather of Black Music” breathed his last to chagrin of music lovers and the countless people whose lives he touched with his melodious notes. The demise of the 92-year-old jolted many in the music industry where he rose to become a true icon. Among those who first sent out their heartfelt obituaries was America’s Dream Team member Magic Johnson.

The departed doyen’s influence extended far beyond the realms of melody-making. And Magic Johnson aware of Avant’s legend paid a glorious tribute to the fallen. Along with the NBA legend, the former US President shared an emotional tribute to one of the trailblazers of music and artistry.

Magic Johnson, the legendary basketball player, took to Instagram to remember his great friend and the legendary musician, Clarence Avant. For those of you that are unacquainted with this work, this is the music producer responsible for a lot of the success achieved by black musicians, athletes, and stars. Be it Magic Johnson or Michael Jackson, Avant played a part in their superstardom and the black community as well as the world at large will be all the more for his contributions.

Sharing a heartfelt post accompanied by a picture of himself with Avant, Johnson highlighted the remarkable achievements that defined Avant’s legacy. Furthermore, Johnson added the caption, “Rest in peace to the legendary, game-changing “Black Godfather”, and my great friend Clarence Avant.”

Johnson also added a touching realization in his post. He added, “I get solace in knowing he is reunited with his love, Jacqueline once again in Heaven. We will miss you dearly my friend!” Magic’s post shows his deep friendship with the musician. Jacqueline his beloved partner tragically passed in a shooting a couple of years ago, as heartbreaking as the passing was, as Johnson pointed out it is heartening knowing that the couple will be reunited once more.

Beyond his business acumen, Clarence Avant was revered for his mentorship and leadership within the Black community. From founding record labels to purchasing the first fully black-owned radio station, Avant was a trailblazer who shattered barriers and paved the way for future generations.

Magic Johnson recalled Avant’s instrumental role in guiding him and his business partner Ken Lombard during their early ventures. Even the former president of America couldn’t stop himself from paying a glorious tribute to the late musician.

Obama’s ode to Avant

Former President Barack Obama took to Twitter to express his condolences over the loss of Clarence Avant. In a heartfelt tweet, he and Michelle Obama conveyed their gratitude for Avant’s friendship and wisdom. Furthermore, he wrote, “Michelle and I will always be grateful for Clarence’s friendship and wise counsel. Our thoughts are with his family and everyone whose life was touched by a truly remarkable man.”

Barack Obama’s statement underscored Avant’s role as a bridge between generations. Furthermore, Avant became very active in politics with his rise in the music industry. He used his celebrity status to bring changes to the community. From supporting Tom Bradley to producing the documentary “Save the Children“, he was a constant voice for the people.
