Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union have been going strong for almost a decade now. Although there are constant rumors of these two having a rocky relationship, neither Wade nor Union has ever said anything bad about each other. They have both worked together and lifted each other up, while also doing their best to give back to the community. This led to them earning a prestigious award earlier this year.

In a recent episode of the Point Forward podcast hosted by Andre Iguodala and Evan Turner, the special guest was Dwyane Wade. During their conversation, Evan Turner asked Dwyane Wade about the award, and Wade revealed the importance of winning it with his wife.

Dwyane Wade wants to do more for the people

In the 54th NAACP Image Awards, Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade received the prestigious President’s Award. This award is given as a recognition of the impact these people have had on communities and for all the philanthropic work that they have done.

It was an honor for Dwyane Wade to win the award, considering the previous people who have won it. It was certainly a good list to be on. When he first found out that he had won the award, the Miami Heat legend did not want to accept it, as he thought he did not deserve it. But he later changed his view.

Wade said, “I knew that being on that stage and standing in place for multiple communities was important. To see a black man, to see a black father, my wife as a black woman, to see us standing on the stage and saying the things that we were saying, that moment was important. More important than the actual award.“

He felt like there was so much more that he had to do before actually getting recognition for it, like he has a ways to go. But later, he realized that just going up there and receiving the award would also help drive change.

Is Wade and Union getting divorced?

There has recently been a lot of speculation regarding the couple and how they might be heading towards a breakup. According to Marca, this started with gossip groups on social media bringing out the news that the two are separated but staying together for their kids.

The couple have not been seen wearing their wedding rings in the past few weeks either, and this has let these rumor channels run wild. Nothing is confirmed regarding the current status of their marriage, and both Wade and Union have not made any public comments on this.
