“They Should’ve Fired Skip Bayless”: Kobe Bryant Snub Lands ESPN Employee on Hot Waters With NBA Veteran

Kobe Bryant was without a doubt one of, if not the greatest, players to walk the surface of the Earth. This is a majority opinion, not just in the basketball community but across the entire of field sports. So anyone disagreeing with this is naturally looking for trouble. And this is exactly what Skip Bayless did with his claim of Tim Tebow being a bigger draw than Kobe Bryant. So much so that even after than a decade, the statement invites severe criticism against the ESPN2 commentator.
The most recent one to react to this is ex-NBA star Jason Williams. “They should have fired Skip Bayless right then and there,” he stated. This came on an episode of ‘No Media’, after Williams watched the clip where Bayless made the statement of Tebow being a better draw. ‘White Chocolate’ agreed on Tebow being a great athlete. But he believes the late LA Lakers legend is in a different stratosphere than most humans that have ever walked this earth.

It is worth mentioning that as per an ESPN poll in 2012, Tebow was recognized by 3 percent of Americans surveyed as their favorite active pro athlete, placing him above Kobe Bryant at 2 percent. However, in 2020, the former quarterback himself recognized the legacy left behind by the ‘Black Mamba’. “To me, he had an unflinching drive and focus I only can compare to Tiger Woods or Michael Jordan,” Tim Tebow told USA TODAY Sports.
It is also important to highlight that Bryant, being a 5x NBA champion, 2x NBA Finals MVP and 2x Olympic Gold Medalist, has more achievements in his name than Tebow. So it is understandable for Jason Williams to lose his cool on Skip Bayless for understating Kobe’s greatness.
Jason Williams shares his Kobe Bryant story
Williams stated he and Kobe and did not talk much when the two played against each other. Jason Williams believes that the obvious reason for that was that Bryant had greater things to focus on back then. However, he revisited the day where both of them were there at the old school forum in LA for a match.
How Has Kobe Bryant’s Aura Transcended Beyond Basketball
“He and I met at the scorers table at the same time. And, you know, I’m sitting there, first time we played against the Lakers, first time I seen Kobe Bryant. I’m in awe, bro. Like, wow, it’s Kobe Bryant. I’m watching him shoot layups and all, warming up,” he recollected. Williams further states that they were up by 14 and Kobe said, “Y’all having fun” to which Jason could not say anything, as he recollects.

‘White Chocolate’ further clarified on the show that his opinion of there being better players than Kobe Bryant has often been misunderstood. He mentioned the ‘Black Mamba’ to be one of the best, if not the best, to some people. But for him, there are some other names better at basketball than Bryant was. Nonetheless, he still disagrees with Bayless’ claims on Bryant and Tebow, reflecting his belief in the 5x NBA champion’s legacy.
