NBA analyst Stephen A Smith has a theory of why Kevin Durant was the best player while in Golden State Warriors but people loved Stephen Curry more.

Two seasons after winning the NBA MVP award, Durant joined the Warriors from Oklahoma City Thunder. His arrival made the Dubs unrealistically strong. It also reflected in their performances. The Warriors reached the finals in all three seasons that Durant stayed- winning two of them. Durant was the Finals MVP in both the wins while he was put with an injury for the finals of the last season.

Kevin Durant was undoubtedly better than Stephen Curry as per Stephen A. Smith

“No way was there ever going to be a time when Kevin Durant received more love than Stephen Curry,” Smith said. “Here’s where Kevin Durant, in my opinion, probably had a problem- people. Because you love Steph Curry, you tried to act like Steph Curry was better than Kevin Durant. And that was never the case.”

Smith acknowledged Curry was the best shooter, but Durant was a better all-round player according to him.

“Kevin Durant was the best player on the Golden State Warriors. There has not been a time when Kevin Durant was a worse player than Steph Curry,” he said. “Curry is the best shooter we have ever seen in our lives. (But) he was never a better all-round player than Durant. And that’s just not true. And Durant knew that.”
