The ten-part docuseries showcasing the legacy of Michael Jordan has surely rocked the basketball world. ‘The Last Dance’ offered solid evidence on how MJ dominated the game on a huge scale. Due to that, many people are now convinced that the Jumpman is the greatest ever.

Trail Blazers star Carmelo Anthony agrees to a part of the discussion. However, he wants everyone to respect the other players in the conversation. 

The ten-time All-Star shed light on his feelings about the debate in a recent chat with CBS Sports. Melo stated that he doesn’t want to lose out on what the NBA is witnessing at the moment. “I don’t like it. And I say that because whenever we do that, we fail to appreciate what we have in front of us,” Anthony told CBS Sports. Appreciating the past is a must, but enjoying the present is even more important, according to the 35-year-old.

The former Knicks star was reluctant to render his thoughts on the famed discussion of determining the best ever to play in the NBA. Melo wants the fans to appreciate everyone who plays the game in a way that people find it flawless. However, his slight inclination towards giving Michael Jordan the title of the GOAT was evident. 

“You know, M.J. is the GOAT. He’s the greatest ever. We all know that and we all agree to that.” However, the former scoring champion also had a few enlightening words to say about the rest who get compared to MJ in this process.

“Why can’t we say that, but also give LeBron his flowers while he’s here too?” Anthony said. “Why can’t we say, ‘M.J. was very great, LeBron is very great, Kobe is very great.’ We’re not allowed to say those things today, because it’s always this or that, and that’s just our society — you have to choose one.”
