With the likes of Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Magic Johnson and Michael Cooper in the lineup, the 1980s team of the Los Angeles Lakers would leave a mark every time they play. Their performances on the field earned them the nickname “Showtime Lakers”. Add LeBron James to the team and the “Showtime” received another crowd-pleaser.
NBA’s leading scorer of all time, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, felt James would be a perfect fit in the team. When a Twitter user asked him to pick a current NBA player who would do well in his generation, Jabbar said: “Without a doubt, Lebron and The Lakers would be the right team.”
It isn’t surprising to see Jabbar name him. With the Lakers already one of the most formidable teams in the history of the NBA, LeBron’s inclusion has made it further stronger.
The NBA Hall of Famer also named another Lakers player when asked to name who resembles his style of play. He felt most aspects of Anthony Davis‘ game are similar to his.
James made his first appearance in the NBA in 2003, after Cleveland Cavaliers drafted him with the first overall pick. After playing for seven years, he made a rather infamous move to Miami Heat. After guiding the Heat to four consecutive finals and winning two titles, James came back to his hometown to lead the Cavaliers to an NBA title. Over the years, James had been the NBA’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) four times- 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013.
In 2018, James joined the Los Angeles Lakers and is leading them in their quest to find their lost glory. At 35, James is still among the best players in the league. His performances have made him a contender for the MVP award.
Along with the reigning MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, James is among the favorites to win the MVP award for the 2019/20 season.
