NBA Trade Rumors: LA Clippers Preparing a Trade of Paul George to Brooklyn Nets?

October 1, 2020 7:17 pm

The Los Angeles Clippers choked miserably against the Denver Nuggets. Yes, this is a statement that is going to continue to haunt the Clippers team for a long, long time. On top of that, this loss is coming with a lot of consequences.

First, coach Doc Rivers was let go from the franchise after facing tremendous scrutiny for their disappointing run. And now, this ripple effect is going to have implications even on the players involved.

Are the Clippers looking to trade Paul George?

It all started with Paul George having a tiff with Montrezl Harrell in Game 2 of the Western Conference Semi-Finals. Harrell tried to address one of George’s clumsy turnovers, but he refused to take responsibility for it. It ended with Harrell telling him, “You’re always right. Nobody can tell you nothing.”

This brief argument blew way out of proportion and can now be the potential reason for George to be traded to the Brooklyn Nets. Josh McIntyre from Fox Sports explained, “At the exit interviews, and this is just what I’ve heard, Paul George did not get rave reviews from his teammates.”

“My source would not be shocked if Paul George was shipped out of town, and the potential landing spot is the Brooklyn Nets where he would then team with Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant. In exchange, the Clippers would get something along the lines of Caris LeVert, Spencer Dinwiddie, and some sort of second-round Draft pick to balance out the rest of the deal,” said Josh.

“I’m sure the Clippers would love to get Jarrett Allen, who had to take a backseat to DeAndre Jordan because DeAndre is friends with Kyrie and Kevin Durant.”

Is it a smart choice to hand over one of their key players?

Well, petty feuds should be no reason to let go of a star player. There is no denying that Kawhi Leonard and Paul George did not step up to the occasion when needed most. However, even the best of players can struggle when their backs are against the wall. What’s possible is that they are considering this trade because they don’t want bad blood between their own teammates.

But the deadly combination of Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and Paul George is definitely one to think about, right?
