The Toronto Raptors had a solid 2019-20 season and made a deep playoff run. Now they will see multiple starters like Fred Van Vleet, Serge Ibaka and Marc Gasol entering free agency.

Ibaka is coming off with one of his best seasons in the NBA averaging 15.4 points, 8.2 rebounds, 1.4 assists at 38.5% from the three point line. Many teams are interested in signing the big man.

Ibaka recently took over luxury jewel brand Tiffany & Co.’s Instagram page. When asked whether he would be staying with the Raptors, Ibaka said, “I will always be open about my love for Toronto, the city, the people, the organization. I have so much respect for the Raptors organization with all the trust and the fans the way they love me.”

Ibaka added, “As you know, the free agency starts tomorrow, and the things are not in my hand. Right now it’s not in my power, but one thing is for sure. I want you to know is that I love Toronto and I love the Raptors fans and I love Canada because they always show me love and respect. To me that’s most important.” All these comments make his future with the Raptors more uncertain.

Potential teams for Serge Ibaka

The Raptors would surely like to sign Ibaka, but with demands from their other free agents like Fred Van Vleet, they might not be able to re-sign the big.

The champion Los Angeles Lakers will be very much interested in having Ibaka. The 2018-19 champion is a great defender and has a good jump shot unlike the other centers Lakers have. He can take some weight off Anthony Davis‘ shoulder and add some much needed perimeter shooting to the team.

The Boston Celtics can be another potential team for Ibaka. The Celtics do not have a star in their center position. Ibaka is a top-10 center in the league. He can space the floor and can also add 15 points on a regular basis. He will also add much needed veteran experience and be a perfect fit for the team.

The Dallas Mavericks will be keen on improving their defense, given the woeful defense they had last season. In Ibaka they will get a great defender and also a very capable backup for Kristoff Porzingis.
