Let’s talk about the Tar Heels for some change. Sixteen long seasons at North Carolina, Mack Brown has to be the program’s longest-standing HC, and he had changed Tar football for the better. After 2 massive seasons back in 2022 and 2023, guess it was about time to hang the cap and call it a day. Coming off of that massive 8-5 run from last year, people had thought that maybe Mack Brown could nail it this year as well. Well, after 5 losses, that hope was pretty much out of the window. While this man has changed North Carolina football for the better, we all still gotta change. The question now is, who will lead the program for the 2025 season?

See, the Tar Heels have the facility, they have the money, and most importantly; they are in the ACC. It’s much less competitive compared to the Big 12 or SEC or even Big 10. So, there is scope and UNC needs someone who knows how to expand on this, and YouTube UGA football pointed out the perfect candidate. “I think that Glenn Schumann would be someone that understands the process, understands what it takes to win a national championship, understands what it is to be a lead on defense. He’d be a good hire,” UGA pointed out.

Now, if you don’t know who Glenn Schumann is, then let’s break it down this way; you see everything the Dawgs’ D-line stands for, like, keeping the other teams limited to barely 15 points on the board, completely crippling an elite roster like the Longhorns and all that, well, it’s all because of Schumann.

He has been with this roster ever since Kirby Smart took the helm back in 2016. This man has helped this team win a national championship twice, and he is probably the best person you can pick if you want to revamp UNC for the future.

While you can argue that this season, Georgia has had its “bad” moments against Bama and Ole Miss, you still have to understand that both of those games were lost because Smart’s offense failed to step up. Against Ole Miss, they were purely one-dimensional. Against Bama, while they did manage to take the lead, Ryan Williams stole the win. Schumann needs a new start, and UNC needs a better HC. This is the perfect match, and it ain’t the only perfect candidate.

What’s your perspective on:

Can Glenn Schumann bring the same defensive magic to UNC that he did with Georgia's Dawgs?

Have an interesting take?

The man who made the Fighting Irish defense

What are Marcus Freeman and Co? Without their defensive line, which has easily managed to hold back almost every single team down to 13-14 points per game? And who is the madman behind this defense? Al Golden.

Notre Dame stands on top of almost every list when it comes down to forcing turnovers or overall pass-and-rush defense. These guys easily managed to hold back a team like Georgia Tech (mind you, these guys won against Miami Hurricanes) to only 13 points.

Even the Army and Navy didn’t stand a chance. Ain’t no wonder why Pete Thamel pushed Golden’s name for the UNC HC candidates as well. Much like Schumann, Golden also knows what it takes to switch a program around. It will be fun to see who finally lands the job and changes UNC’s trajectory.
