Who needs a knight in shining armor when you’ve got a daughter ready to suit up and fight for you? Kristen Saban just sent her dad, Nick Saban, a not-so-sneaky little nudge, and it’s making waves. Sure, the former Bama boss has been killing it on ESPN’s College GameDay—mixing sharp analysis with unexpected humor (who can forget him rocking the Penn State mascot outfit?). But with Alabama hitting a few bumps, Kristen’s message is clear: it might be time for Dad to pack up the mic and head back to T-Town.
Kristen subtly urged dad, Nick Saban, to come out of retirement in an Instagram story that has since been removed. During their 2024 Holiday Spectacular, the Red Mountain Theatre in Birmingham proudly presented the video that told the story. It was performed by the RMT Headliners and was written internally by local music director Katie Holmes. The most experienced and most talented of the Performing Groups, these students are 13 to 18 years old and are committed to CFB and musical theater. All of the music is a louder scream as a comeback call for ‘Saint Nick’. And there, Kristen’s voice was loud in the comments: “Obsessed with this 👏😍.”
Alabama supporters are practically pleading with ‘Saint Nick Saban’, the outstanding coach, to return—they want him to lead the club prior to the sixth choice. Nick Saban and Saint Nicholas were likened. The voyage of Saint Nicholas from Myra to Bari serves as an example of how local customs and devotion to faith have influenced his current stature. They only say, “Come back to play. We are sorely missing you at the UI.”

Without a doubt, we are all aware of Alabama’s unruly culture and the fragility of its defense. “They’re having ice cream socials while their fans are in distress,” fans comment after this. Adding, ” We’re not used to losing games. We expect the best. Since the ghost has gone away, we can’t take the stress.” You see Alabama’s consecutive defeats to Vanderbilt and Tennessee. Bama now faced Auburn in the Iron Bowl with a score of 8-3, which the fans found unacceptable. As of right now, they attribute Bama’s present problems—which include not being in CFP—to DeBoer alone. “DeBoer has the audacity to coach in a T-shirt,” they said. At least the new coach is not Hugh Freeze, even though he wears hoodies, as per Bama fans.
Kristen’s cheeky comment, “Obsessed with this 👏😍,” has fans buzzing. It’s hard not to read between the lines—just like the rest of the Bama faithful, she seems to be hinting that it’s time for her dad to trade his ESPN gig for a return to the Alabama sidelines. And fans aren’t stopping there. There’s plenty in that song to keep you hooked, with layers of meaning that could have anyone captivated.

What do the fans desire?
Fans claim that when the game clock is running out, and Bama is trailing, it feels like the Shula years. However, why? From 2003 to 2006, Mike Shula led the Bama football team as head coach. A turbulent time for the team was reflected in his tenure, which was characterized by major obstacles and conflicting outcomes. His debut season was especially challenging, finishing with a 4-9 record that included multiple tight losses and no victories by a single score. Fans, therefore, perceive the current coach DeBoer’s tenure as Shula’s year.
Furthermore, the songs are presented as a test of DeBoer’s proficiency. They went crazy when the O-line dropped the ball, and third downs didn’t turn into fours, as was mentioned. The primary message sent by Alabama fans at the end is that no programs are now “scared of” them, which is what they wish to get back. There is now just one way to force Saban to rejoin the team.
