The rumors about Bill Belichick’s future at the New England Patriots have been milling around for months now. But with the last game of the regular season upon us, one of Belichick’s own takes his side. The former Patriots TE has voiced his opinion on the whole ordeal.

Rob Gronkowski played 9 seasons under the 71-year-old Belichick, winning the Super Bowl on three occasions. And the TE has showcased his loyalty to his former coach, but is he ready to be shocked?

Another season without playoffs has Belichick’s job under threat. But on Fox NFL, the 34-year-old Gronkowski did not shy away from taking sides. The show’s host Jay Glazer said, “I don’t think Bill comes back there. Now it’s just a matter of do they fire him or decide to move apart”. This comment prompted Gronkowski to speak up.

“I will be shocked if he’s gone. I wouldn’t believe it until I see it”, said the 4-time Super Bowl champion. Gronkowski displayed his firm demeanor in that statement, but did not forget to remind everyone of something more important.

Amidst the recent bad performances, many fans and media alike have forgotten the amount of success Belichick has brought to the Patriots. And his former TE Gronkowski made sure nobody jumped over that part. But will Belichick’s past make up for the future?

“Belichick is grandfather claused in. He has six Super Bowl wins”, said the 5X Pro Bowler Gronkowski. But with a record of 4-12 this season and the third time in a row to secure the top spot in the AFC East. Has the game gone past Belichick?

At the age of 71, Belichick has been in the coaching business for almost 50 years. 23 of them as HC for the Patriots. Once regarded as a masterful tactician, but his tactics seem to be easily outplayed by the opposition.
