Sitting at 5-1, the Indianapolis Colts will head to SoFi Stadium to face the 4-2 Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday afternoon. They’re the hottest team in the AFC South, leading the league with 32.3 points per game. And QB Daniel Jones is in good form. He is hitting 72 percent of his throws for 1,502 yards, eight scores, and just three picks. But there’s a twist.

Coming into Week 7, Jones just lost three key weapons. Wide receivers Josh Downs and Ashton Dulin are out with a concussion and chest injury, respectively, while running back Tyler Goodson remains sidelined with a groin issue. Adding to the pain, cornerback Charvarius Ward is also sidelined with a concussion and didn’t practice.
However, in total, Indy’s injury report lists 11 names ahead of Sunday. Several players are listed as questionable. Cornerback Kenny Moore II is recovering from an Achilles issue, while defensive tackle DeForest Buckner, defensive end Samson Ebukam, linebacker Zaire Franklin, and defensive tackle Grover Stewart were all limited in practice or on rest throughout the week.

Now, defensively, the worry is also real. Last week, the Colts gave up 320 passing yards. Missing Moore II now hurts even more.

On the brighter side, wide receiver Alec Pierce and offensive tackle Braden Smith participated fully in practice and are expected to be active, providing some stability to the Colts’ passing attack and offensive line for Sunday’s game.

Now, let’s look at the Chargers’ injury list. And yes, they are also in big trouble.

Jim Harbaugh has 15 players on the injury list
The Los Angeles Chargers are entering Sunday’s game with multiple injury concerns across offense and defense. As many as 15 players are on the injury list. Offensive lineman Trey Pipkins, dealing with a knee injury, did not practice all week, is officially unspecified after missing practice all week. He hurt his knee back in that Week 5 loss to Washington and already sat out Week 6. For Harbaugh, that’s one less body protecting the pocket this weekend. Still, the list doesn’t stop there.

Wide receiver Keenan Allen was on rest on Wednesday, returned for limited practice Thursday, and full practice Friday, though his game status remains unspecified. Fellow wide receiver Derius Davis is questionable with a knee injury, and Quentin Johnston, also a wide receiver, practiced fully Friday after limited sessions earlier in the week with a hamstring issue. Running back Hassan Haskins, dealing with a chest injury, is questionable after returning to practice Thursday.
The offensive line has key players banged up as well. Offensive tackle Joe Alt is doubtful after missing Wednesday’s practice and participating only in limited sessions on Thursday and Friday due to an ankle injury. While guard Jamaree Salyer was limited throughout the week. Center Bradley Bozeman missed Thursday’s practice due to illness but returned Friday.
On defense, linebacker Troy Dye and cornerback Elijah Molden did not practice all week and have unspecified game statuses. Linebacker Daiyan Henley, linebacker Kyle Kennard, outside linebacker Khalil Mack, and middle linebacker Denzel Perryman all practiced fully and appear set to play. Safety Derwin James returned from rest and a wrist injury, practicing fully on Thursday and Friday. Defensive tackle Scott Matlock has practiced fully following an ankle issue.
The Colts and Chargers enter the week carrying notable injury concerns that could shape their game plans. Indianapolis is balancing a mix of rest and injuries across key positions, while the Chargers are dealing with issues on both sides of the ball, including multiple linebackers, defensive backs, and key offensive contributors.
Success for both teams will hinge on healthy players stepping up to preserve offensive rhythm and defensive consistency.
