Derek Carr is OUT! Looks like the Saints suffered a significant setback once again. Everyone is aware that the quarterback sustained an injury to his non-throwing hand during the game against the Giants. However, there wasn’t much information available after that. The Saints fans had hoped that the injury would be minor, but it appears that luck is not on their side this year.
The third-place squad in the NFC South, with 5 wins and 8 losses, has now lost its starting quarterback, Ian Rapoport. An NFL insider has confirmed that the quarterback sustained a bone fracture. Derek Carr will miss several weeks as a result of this. Given that there are only four weeks left in the season, it could be a season-ending injury.
The report stated, “#Saints QB Derek Carr did, in fact, suffer a significant fracture in his non-throwing hand, per me and @TomPelissero. He’s expected to miss several weeks. Based on where we are in the season, this is almost certainly season-ending.”

After this injury, it is evident that this was not the year of Derek Carr. Prior to this, he also got injured in the week 5 game against the Chiefs. It was a severe oblique injury, and he was out for over three weeks following that. Despite the fact that the injury disrupted his flow on the field, Carr was still doing admirably up to this point. Given the current position, it appears that only one player will succeed Carr as the starting quarterback. But who exactly is it?

Spencer Rattler will get another chance this season following Derek Carr’s injury
For those who missed it, after Week 5, the Saints used rookie Spencer Rattler as their starter quarterback. Rattler was well-known in his college football time, but he failed to show his magic on a large platform. He was the Saints’ quarterback for three games, all of which they lost. However, many people noticed in his game that he had a lot of potential, and maybe, with some more training, he could turn things around.
Rattler now has another shot in which maybe he can re-paint his picture. The season has four weeks left, and now that Derek Carr is out, Saints fans will hope that Rattler can help the team reach the playoffs. The rookie would undoubtedly face a lot of pressure, but that’s football for you!
