The New York Jets are 9 games in and have won only 4 of them. This leaves room for a lot of thinking that needs to be done by the 3 team in the AFC East division. Aaron Rodgers, though supportive of the team, agrees with the same and believes that the Jets need to clean their act up. Astonishingly, more staggering news has come forth from the Jets’ corner as they cut ties with the RB Michael Carter.

The team lost two straight games without scoring a single touchdown. Thus, it was obvious that some action was the need of the hour for the men in green. This prompted a players-only meeting which eventually turned into one of the worst days of Carter‘s life, probably. Football fans have been caught by a surprise after the Jets made these changes to their roster.

The Jets are making a statement at this point. Why? Because they lost to the Las Vegas Raiders, a team that was in shambles before the Jets game. The sacking of Michael Carter has opened up a spot for the rookie Israel Abanikanda, who will be playing alongside Breece Hall and Dalvin Cook.

Though, Carter’s release does bring attention to his game this season. His performance has been thoroughly sub-par with covering just 38 rushing yards and 68 receiving yards. In comparison to the previous years, Carter has hardly been at his best with zero touchdowns to his name this year.

Oveall, Jets gave up 17 points in penalty in the last two games and it has irked the management throughout. Thus, the decided move hasn’t come off as a surprise. It all started when Garrett Wilson, the Jets’ WR decided that it was time for a players-only meeting after succumbing to the Raiders.

Somehow, losing against the Raiders was a wake-up call for the Jets. The offensive tackle Mekhi Becton posted on X, “This one hurts the most. I can’t even lie.”

The warning coming toward the Jets’ players

The sacking of Michael Carter serves as a warning for anyone who is an underperformer on the Jets’ roster. Whether the Michael Carter sacking was long overdue or not, the recent chop-block penalty came as the last draw for him. The things is that Carter has shown a sub-par performance throughout the season, especially in third-downs.

He even got in an altercation with the RB coach Taylor Embree. Maybe all this pursued Garrett Wilson to take a step further. “It was just us. We got to make sure we’re all on the same page about where we’re at and how the hell we get out of this funk, man. That was really the message. When it comes from one of your teammates, it always hits different. It always resonates a little bit more.” Garrett Wilson told ESPN.

With Zach Wilson in command, the Jets are at their lowest this season with just 8 touchdowns to show for 2023. Robert Saleh backed Zach Wilson and mentioned that he shouldn’t be treated like a “fall guy” and deal with the aftermath alone. For now, Robert Saleh is concerned with the Jets’ offense and is looking for any and every opportunity to solidify it.

“We’re looking at some things, some different personnel changes, which I’m going to keep here with me, but we’re looking across the board to see if we can find a way to generate some offense,” said Saleh to ESPN. Expectations of witnessing a better side and performance in the next game surely surround the Jets with the promises coming from their end.
